Stora skador på stränder, vid vattendrag och intilliggande byggnader, är resultatet av levanten (vind från öster) som drog in över kusten under helgen som var. Och natten till tisdag drog atlantstormen ”Lola” in över Costa del Sol och har orsakat än mer oreda, speciellt på stränderna, där helgens stormoväder redan fått havet att dra med sig mycket sand från kustens stränder. I Benalmádena har speciellt stränderna Bil-Bil, Arroyo de la Miel, Santa Ana och Malapesquera drabbats hårt. På t ex stranden mellan Torrequebrada och Puerto Marina har stora skador på strandrestauranger rapporterats, liksom att havet ”ätit upp” två höjdmeter av sanden. Kommunens borgmästare, Víctor Navas, beskriver skadorna som ”betydande” och kräver att landets centralregering och Junta de Andalucía ger stödbidrag och grönt ljus till att bygga ut vågbrytare och andra skyddande lösningar för stränderna.
